Last evening I went to my hammock to enjoy some peace and quiet. All was going well until I had a visitor, a cicada. I snapped a picture (as bad as it is) and thought of the contrast of what I sought, quiet, and what I got, a ruckus! I wonder why one little bug makes SO much racket!? Of course I had to find out why and of course it is a male’s mating call!

Seeking quiet space.
Cicada on pergola,
shhh… Be quiet. STOP!

I remained. He fled. Quiet was had.

How do you find quiet and what disturbs your quiet space?

  1. Early early morning offers the most beautiful quiet – after the pets are fed, and while the still husband slumbers. I guard that private space.
